About us

Om Shresther’s journey as a Thangka artist is nothing short of extraordinary. Born In 1973 in the quiet hills of Ramechhop, he was not destined for this sacred art by birthright- unlike the Lomas and Tamang artists who inherit it through generations. Yet, fate intervened When he took a job is a cook in a Thanka Painter is household. Amidst the rhythas of Kitchen work, om found himself irresistibly drawn to the vibrant colours and intricate geometrices of Thangka art instden moments. he would Study the Paintings tracing their lines in his mind,teaching himself the basic of  a craft that would become his determination was absoulute . 

Leaving Ramechhap for kathamandu, om sought out masters who could refire his raw talent. Each mentor added new dimensions to his skill-proprortion  Symbolism, the Pinacle of Thanaka artistry, the application of 24k gold leaf, remained elusive reserved for those who could afford its step.apprenticeship. Undeterred, om and his wife made an un thinkable sacrifice: she offered 1.5 tolas of her own gold jewelry as collateral to secure his training. This act of faith became the turning pant in his Career, allowing  him to master the gilded techniques that now define his work.

For om, artistry without sharing is incomplate over the years, he has trained  more than 500 Students, breaking the traditional mold of gurded knowledge Ever the innovators he introduced a  revolutionary teaching model: Pauing  apprentices NPR 1500 for their first completed Thangk as , which he then sold to foved further traing. This system not only nusturred new lalent but also wove a self-sustaining ecosystem around his Craft. His infuence extends buy beyond the studio as a CTEVT-Cerfified Thangka Painting trainer, he Collaborates with the Neplese government  to Preserve this heritage, leading 8-9 Community Projects in Ramechhap to ensure the art thrives i in his homeland.

his Today, om’s legacy is Carried forward by his son, Suman shrestha, a 25-year-old artist pursuing his Bacholor’s degree while apprenticing under farther. Their partnership  embodies a delicate balance  honoring ancient techiques while embracing  modern apportunities. Three years ago ,om took  a bold step byb opening his own studio in Bhaktapur, Shifting from reliane on resellers to direct engagement with Collectors. Togeter,  they learn thangka Painting from his father and have grown up knowledge their father involvement in Spreading and promoting  the thanka art around   globally. so the His son come up promoting the thanka art around with an idea to establish online platform for om Mandala Arts with an aim to promote  the thangka art to peoplo all over the Worldwide. As they are able to share and promote work of the thangka  art .
